Text 9 Nov Lauren Greenfield

After graduating from Harvard in 1987, Greenfield became an intern for National Geographic magazine. She then went on to be published in The New York Times Magazine, Harper’s, Time, People, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, and many more. Much of Greenfield’s work is shot in color with a photo-journalistic approach to photography. She focuses heavily on concept and message. Much of her work is a critique on hidden youth and female culture. Lauren Greenfield has captured youth culture in her books ‘Girl Culture’ and ‘Fast & Furious’.  She has just released her first full-length documentary called ‘Thin’. The film documents the self-image and eating disorders of women in America. This film is also the name of one of Greenfield’s books that looks at the same female culture. In January 2008, Lauren Greenfield came out with another short film called “kids + money”. This screened at the Sundance Film Festival.
